GSD 2011, 12th -15th September, Lee-on-Solent Airfield: EGHF, Great Britain
After the river experience in Trier (2009) and lovely Como in Italy (2010) the third German Seaplane Day, 2011 had again something very special to offer: It was held in connection with the 80th anniversary of Great Britain winning the famous Schneider Trophy on September 13th, 1931.
A big thanks to John Russell for all his efforts and to all others who had made this special event possible! You are just great!
As for the primary reason of the GSD – to spread the word about seaplane flying to the general public and other pilots, plus of course lots of fun for the participants – the third GSD this year was another great success. No accidents whatsoever, like in the years before. Not only BBC, but some other local radio stations had broadcasted beforehand and such the spectators along the flying course were numerous.

Here are some links that Jon Butts, Chairman of Lee Flying Association, has collected:
Some great early images from Calshot here and Ryde here.
Video from BBC South Today report here. Pre-event BBC coverage here.
Will add further links to further photographs/videos to the story on www.eghf.co.uk as and when discovered.
