Some major influence in the final attendance of planes has the weather god. So far we got the following responses from pilots:

"Being a nation of seafarers, we are starting off now, so hope to appear in Italian waters by October! John & Liz Russell." (original quote by the The Hovercraft Museum)

Seaplane pilots come from very different backgrounds in their "regular" life: "Opera is where a guy gets stabbed in the back, and instead of dying, he sings." (Robert Burns). Swiss Bass Baritone Marc-Olivier Oetterli plans to attend the GSD in Como in his passion for seaplanes.

Regards from North of the Artic Circle...  I would love to come to the German Seaplane Day and will plan on it. I am glad you are organizing it – I know it will be fantastic!
First Marga and I have to get off this beach we are stuck on - we were on our way to Svalbard (Islands1000KM north of Norway)....
We have a blog and so far almost 3500 miles of zig-zagging towards the north since Biscarrosse!

From Switzerland Alex Kollep intends to join the GSD in Como with the well known yellow PA-18 Super Cub.

Representing France will be Air France Cpt. Olivier Ripoche (B777), who flies a Seamax (Ultralight). Besides his airline job, Olivier Ripoche founded francehydravion, an association dedicated in optimising French rules and regulations for seaplane flying and seaplane bases. Currently they are working on making Martigues (opposite to Marignanne on étang de Berre) a permanent seaplane base.

Also from Switzerland Jean-Jacques Loertscher and his family will join us, Jean-Jacques flying the easy recognizable green and yellow Twin Bee.

A340-Captain Frank Koinzer will fly in from Germany with his Super Cub N5362X.

The first Lake Renegade 270 Turbo ever registered in Germany will as to date not join the Splash-In in Como due to aircraft maintenance.

Airline Captain Stefan Mommertz plans to join with his newly built beautiful Scout (Amphibium). That's what he wrote:
Just came back from Lago di Como - it´s amazing: The mountains and countryside of the Lombardy, the ancient architectur, the people, the food - Italy at it´s finest.

Two beautifull alpine crossings via the Brenner pass. A bit of a challenge on the way back, because a troph was favoring instable air, thus enabling cumuli congesti and cumuli nimbi. Controllers on both sides of the Brenner Pass were very professionell, helpfull and friendly when I asked for weather and ATS information.

The good thing about a troph is the relativly cold air, enabling good engine performance. The rough water Take off run could be kept short, thus keeping strain off the airframe. With Max T/O weight, we could take the Scout up to 9500. The OAT indicator showed 6 Celcius. A bit of mountain wave flying brought some additional fun and altitude.

Am looking forward to come back to Aero Club Como and it´s helpful and professionel members!
